Foi ali que eu comecei a ouvir um som estranho que me pareceu um sussuro vindo das entranhas da terra.
Era como um coração envolto em uma mordaça, a bater vagarosamente. Junto à borda da mata, virei a cabeça, procurando posicionar meu ouvido na direção daquele sussurro que soava ameaçador. Não quis pagar para ver e tomei o caminho de volta até a pickup. Trinta dias depois, o mesmo som voltou a se manifestar, no exato lugar da vez anterior. Na oportunidade, retomarei o assunto.
Os surucuás, tanto o de coleira quanto o grande de barriga amarela, vocalizavam sem parar. O som estridente emitido por um sabiá pimenta arrebatou a minha atenção. Em outubro de 2013, ali estivéramos e, acreditem, não conseguimos obter uma única foto deste pássaro. Desta vez, sua agitação habitual não foi empecilho à obtenção de algumas imagens, muito embora a qualidade não tenha ficado satisfatória. Mas, o que fazer? Deixar passar a oportunidade? Jamais!
