Reserva Natural da Vale - 19 de novembro de 2014 - 04:45 h
O implacável despertador do celular tocou às 04:45 h. Olhei pela janela e pude verificar que a escuridão ainda reinava absoluta. Em outra situação não hesitaria em voltar para a cama e dormir novamente. Entretanto, quando o objetivo é a observação de pássaros, não podemos deixar que a preguiça tome assento, porque o girar incessante da terra não espera e, de forma inexorável, apresenta um novo alvorecer a cada 24 horas. Tomamos uma revigorante ducha e pouco depois estávamos no estacionamento do hotel. Os guaxes e melros, que há pouco piavam timidamente, agora faziam verdadeiro estardalhaço. Tomamos o carro e seguimos para o mesmo lugar onde estivéramos na véspera.
O primeiro visitante daquelas paragens deu o ar da graça e atravessou a estrada de leste para oeste. Era um pica pau de cabeça amarela. Em seu característico voo, mergulhou na densa mata, mantendo-se fora do alcance de nossas lentes. Depois, foi a vez do anambé branco de rabo preto. Ele pousou em um galho seco, desprovido de qualquer folha. Aquela já era uma árvore morta, mas ainda de pé. A distância era muita, mas foi possível fazer algumas fotos. A fêmea estava por perto e logo pousou no mesmo galho. Dupla satisfação.
Chauás vocalizavam no interior da floresta, mas nenhum no nosso campo de visão. Passado pouco tempo, um par deles acabou pousando em uma árvore um pouco mais distante daquela onde tomara assento o casal de anambés. A distância impediu fotos melhores, mas fotografar um Chauá já é um luxo por si só. Esta é uma espécie que consta da lista vermelha da IUCN - União Internacional para a Conservação da Natureza e dos Recursos Naturais das espécies ameaçadas. Nesta lista, ele recebe a classificação “EM PERIGO”.
Um araçari de bico branco pousou brevemente. Embora estivesse completamente visível, a grande distancia entre nós foi um obstáculo intransponível, resultando em uma fotografia de qualidade duvidosa. Voltar os olhos para a tosca árvore dos anambés era o melhor a fazer. De fato, foi. Um admirável Sovi pousara no seu ponto mais alto e ali permaneceu placidamente. Fotografei-o até que o pica pau de cabeça amarela chamou minha atenção com seu canto. Com o olhar acompanhei o seu voo e pude ver o exato lugar onde ele pousou. Não estava perto o suficiente. Fiz uma única foto e em seguida ele bateu suas asas e desapareceu. Voltei meus olhos para o Sovi, mas ele também já tinha batido suas asas para outro lugar.
Já pensávamos em voltar ao hotel quando um tucano de bico preto pousou na árvore dos anambés. A impressão que eu tinha era a de que todos os pássaros tinham pressa em seguir seu rumo. Este tucano também só me deixou fazer uma única foto.
O derradeiro daquela manhã foi outro Araçari de bico branco. Ele permaneceu imóvel atrás de alguns galhos, dificultando seu enquadramento.
Olhei para o pulso e o estômago marcava 9:00 h. Para quem estava acordado desde muito cedo, era mais do que hora de matar a fome. Pusemos o equipamento no carro e retomamos o caminho do hotel. Um ótimo café da manhã, é preciso que se diga.

The relentless phone alarm went off at 04:45 h. I looked out the window and I could see that the darkness still reigned absolute. In another situation would not hesitate to go back to bed and sleep again. However, when the goal is the observation of birds, we can not let laziness take seat, because the constant turning of the earth does not expect and, inexorably, presents a new dawn every 24 hours. We take an invigorating shower and soon we were in the hotel parking lot. The Red-rumped Caciques and chopi blackbirds, which just hooted timidly, now made real fuss. We took the car and went to the same place where we had been the day before.
The first visitor of those stops gave the air of grace and crossed the road east to west. It was a Blond-crested Woodpecker. In his characteristic flight, plunged into the dense forest, staying out of the reach of our lenses. Then came the Black-tailed Tityra. He landed on a dry twig, devoid of any sheet. That was already a dead tree, but still standing. The distance was too much, but it was possible to make some photos. The female was around and then landed on the same branch. Double satisfaction.
Red-browed Parrot vocalized in the forest, but none in our field of vision. Before long, a couple of them just landing on a slightly more distant tree that had taken a seat where the double anambés. The distance prevented better pictures, but shooting a Red-browed Parrot is already a luxury in itself. This is a species which appears in the IUCN Red List - International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources of endangered species. In this list, it receives a rating of "AT RISK".
A Black-necked Aracari landed briefly. Although it was completely visible, the great distance between us was an insurmountable obstacle, resulting in a dubious quality photograph. Back eyes to the rough tree of anambés was the best thing to do. Indeed, it was. An admirable Plumbeous Kite landed at its highest point and remained there placidly. Photographed it until the Blond-crested Woodpecker caught my attention with her singing. With the look followed your flight and I could see exactly where it landed. I was not close enough. I made a single photo and then he beat his wings and disappeared. I turned my eyes to the Plumbeous Kite, but he also had already beaten its wings elsewhere.
Have we thought about going back to the hotel when a Channei-billed Toucan landed in the tree of anambés. The impression I had was that all the birds were in a hurry to follow its course. This toucan also just let me make a single photo.
The last of the morning was another Black-necked Aracari. He remained motionless behind some branches, complicating the framework.
I looked at the wrist and stomach marked 9:00 a.m. For anyone who was awake very early, it was more than time to kill hunger. We put the equipment in the car and resumed our way to the hotel. A great breakfast, it must be said.
