Chegamos na Reserva Natural da Vale por volta das doze horas do dia 18 de novembro. O HD da memória não havia funcionado bem, pois o correto seria termos chegado no dia 17, mas disto, só ficamos sabendo em Guarapari, ao final do dia, quando uma luz amarela acendeu na minha caixa de memória. Pegamos o telefone e ligamos para o setor de reservas do hotel, que confirmou nossa suspeita: estavam nos esperando para o dia 17. Fato consumado, pedimos, além das desculpas, é claro, que nos fizessem o favor de manter a reserva como se lá estivéssemos.
O fato de ainda serem horas de véspera da alta estação, nos permitiu ficar os três dias que havíamos programado, o que foi pra lá de bom.
A Reserva Natural da Vale está encravada em 25 mil hectares de mata atlântica muito bem preservada. Suas acomodações são confortáveis, o que é um luxo depois de um dia de infindáveis caminhadas em busca desses maravilhosos pássaros. O entorno da pousada é muito bem cuidado e arborizado, podendo ser explorado a pé. Entretanto, para aqueles que queiram se embrenhar nas áreas restritas da reserva, será necessário viabilizar a contratação de um guia experiente, pois saber como se orientar na vastidão daquela densa floresta não é tarefa para amadores. Tudo bem que os GPS são auxílio luxuoso, mas não se iludam, a densidade da mata, mesmo quando trafegando nas bem cuidadas estradas que cortam a reserva(e são muitas), implica, sempre, na perda sistemática de suas posições, o que pode ser uma dor de cabeça, isto, para dizer o mínimo. Sua experiência e conhecimento do lugar é vasta, além de estar preparado para praticamente todo tipo de surpresa que expedições como esta pode reservar. Outra coisa que me impressiona é o apoio integral que ele dedica àqueles que contratam os seus serviços, estando sempre à disposição de quem está guiando e, o melhor, sempre com uma incrível disposição.
Voltemos aos nossos pássaros. Depois de subir com nossa bagagem e tomarmos uma boa ducha, descemos para o almoço, que pode constar ou não de suas reservas(pensão completa ou comida à parte).
Depois do almoço, resolvemos caminhar pelo gramado contíguo à pousada, onde há muitas árvores , que por sua vez, abrigam uma infinidade de pássaros. Ali encontramos um grupo de pica-paus brancos, além de um casal de beneditos de testa amarela, dos quais fizemos algumas fotos e um pequeno vídeo. Depois desta primeira incursão, voltamos ao estacionamento do hotel, pegamos o carro e seguimos até onde se encontram a estrada pavimentada com a de terra batida. Neste ponto a estrada é ladeada por mata densa em ambos os lados. Um surucuá grande de barriga amarela apareceu, permitindo que dele tirássemos fotos e um vídeo. Um soví pousou por breve período em uma árvore próxima. O tempo suficiente para fazermos duas ou três fotos. Ouvimos um pica-pau de banda branca, que ficou só no pio. O sol se escondia atrás da mata quando resolvemos retomar o caminho do hotel.
We arrived in the Natural Reserve of the Valley at about noon on the 18th of November. The HD memory had not worked well because correct would have reached on the 17th, but this, we only know in Guarapari at the end of the day, when a yellow light came on in my memory box. We took the phone and we called the hotel reservation sector, which confirmed our suspicion: they were waiting for the day 17. The fact that there are still hours of the high season eve, allowed us to get the three days we had planned, which was more than a little good.
The Natural Reserve of the Valley is nestled in 25 hectares of rainforest very well preserved. Your accommodations are comfortable, which is a luxury after a day of endless walks in search of these wonderful birds. The surroundings of the hostel is very well maintained and wooded and can be explored on foot. However, for those who want to be embroiled in the restricted areas of the reservation, you must enable the hiring of an experienced guide, because knowing how to guide in the vastness of that dense forest is not a task for amateurs. All though the GPS are luxurious aid but make no mistake, the density of the forest, even when traveling in well maintained roads that cut the reserve (and many are), always implies the systematic loss of their positions, which can be a headache, this, to say the least. His experience and knowledge of the place is vast, and be prepared for just about every kind of surprise that expeditions like this can book. Another thing that strikes me is the full support he dedicated to those who hire their services, being always available to anyone who is guiding, and the best, always with an incredible array.
Let us return to our birds. After climbing with our luggage and take a good shower we went down for breakfast, which can include or not of its reserves (full board or food separately).
After lunch, we decided to walk across the lawn adjacent to the inn, where there are many trees, which in turn, are home to a multitude of birds. There we found a group of white woodpeckers, plus a double yellow-fronted Woodpecker, which did some pictures and a short video. After this first foray, we return to the hotel parking lot, we took the car and went to where the paved road with dirt. At this point the road is lined with dense growth on both sides. A White-tailled Trogon appeared, allowing him take pictures and a video. A Plumbeous Kite landed for a brief period in a nearby tree. Long enough to do two or three photos. We heard a white band of woodpecker, that was only the pious. The sun hid behind the bush when we decided to return to the path of the hotel.
