Não me lembro ao certo se depois o Caledônia a parada para almoço foi no Zero Grau ou se preferimos nos livrar da confusão do trânsito e, optando por algum lugar próximo ao Garlipp. O fato é que às três da tarde nós já estavamos parados à margem da velha e boa trilha que leva à Macaé de Cima. É consenso entre os observadores de pássaros, que a boa hora para encontrá-los é logo após o alvorecer. O que observamos neste dia foi um o frenesi alimentar de um bando misto em pleno meio de tarde. Até mesmo um matracão, que não costuma se mostrar com facilidade, resolveu aparecer. Das 15:00h às 15:30h o movimento dos pássaros em busca de alimento era tanto que se tornou audível. Foram trinta minutos que jogaram por terra o consenso, trazendo-nos enorme satisfação. Clique!!!
I do not remember for sure if after Caledonia the stop for lunch was at Zero Grau or if we'd rather get rid of the traffic clutter and opting for somewhere close to Garlipp. The fact is that at three in the afternoon we were already standing at the edge of the old and good trail that leads to Macaé de Cima. It is consensus among bird watchers, that the good time to find them is shortly after dawn. What we observed on this day was a feeding frenzy of a mixed pack in mid-afternoon. Even a joker, who does not show up easily, decided to show up. From 3:00 pm to 3:30 p.m. the movement of the birds in search of food was so much that it became audible. It was thirty minutes that overthrew the consensus, bringing us enormous satisfaction. Click!!!
Desta vez dormimos de 03 para 04 na Pousada Zero Grau, mas relaxamos e só tomamos o caminho que leva ao pico do caledônia depois das nove da manhã. Negligenciamos com o horário, o que não foi uma boa coisa, pois avistamos poucos pássaros no caminho. Clique!!!

Em nossas visitas semanais a Nova Friburgo, incluimos em nosso itinerário uma incursão à trilha que serpenteia a mata atlântica entre o hotel Garlipp e Macaé de Cima. São muitos os benefícios que auferimos com este trajeto, quer pela mata silente, que sugere a ausência ou o mutismo temporários de seus habitantes alados, quer pela ruidosa algazarra de bandos mistos em busca de alimentos. Salvo as raríssimas excessões, quase sempre encontramos joias como esta, que a natureza vestiu com elegância e delicadeza. Clique!!!
On our weekly visits to Nova Friburgo, we included in our itinerary a foray into the trail that winds the Atlantic forest between the Garlipp Hotel and Macaé de Cima. There are many benefits to this route, whether through the silent forest, which suggests the temporary absence or mutism of its winged inhabitants, or the noisy din of mixed bands in search of food. Except for the rare exceptions, we almost always find jewels like this, which nature has dressed elegantly and delicately. Click!!!

Prometi publicar as coordenadas do local na RJ 116, a meio da serra, entre Cachoeiras de Macacu e Teodoro de Oliveira, que é a localidade de maior altitude por onde passa esta rodovia. As fotos que obtive no google maps irão servir de orientação. Para quem vai do Rio de Janeiro, fique atento ao Sítio Dois Irmãos. O ponto a que me refiro fica a cerca de 800/850 metros do portão deste Sítio. A partir dele, pare na segunda área de refúgio que aparecer à direita. Ali também há uma área de refúgio para quem desce a serra e é exatamente nela que está o portal de acesso para a trilha. É uma propriedade particular pertencente à CEDAE, onde está afixada uma placa com os dizeres: PROPRIEDADE PARTICULAR - PROIBIDA A ENTRADA. O máximo que avancei na trilha foram cerca de 150 metros. Basta um pouco de sorte para que os pássaros estejam próximos da entrada. No caso presente, esses ai estavam na margem da RJ 116 sem se incomodarem com os carros e caminhões que passavam. Foi o melhor encontro que já tive com esta espécie. Amanhã vou subir a serra e filmar o trajeto entre o sítio dois irmãos e este ponto. Depois publico o vídeo aqui. Clique!!!
I promised to publish the coordinates of the place at RJ 116, in the middle of the mountain range, between Cachoeiras de Macacu and Teodoro de Oliveira, which is the highest altitude location through which this highway passes. The photos I took on google maps will serve as a guide. For those going from Rio de Janeiro, stay tuned to Sítio Dois Irmãos. The point I am referring to is about 800/850 meters from the gate of this Site. From there, stop at the second refuge area that appears on the right. There is also a refuge area for those who go down the mountain range and it is exactly in that is the access portal for the trail. It is a private property belonging to CEDAE, where a sign with the words: PARTICULAR PROPERTY - ENTRY PROHIBITED. The most that I advanced on the trail was about 150 meters. Just a bit of luck for the birds to be near the entrance. In the present case, these ones were on the bank of RJ 116 without bothering with the passing cars and trucks.
