Foi a primeira vez que este sofisticado pássaro permitiu uma aproximação neste nível. A estrada que leva ao Pico do Caledônia é estremamente íngrime, o que obriga o bom senso a optar pelo regime de primeira marça em tração 4x4 reduzida, pois assim é possível dispensar o freio tradicional. Vinhamos descendo lentamente quando, exatamente em uma curva acentuada à esquerda e, ao nivel dos olhos, vislumbrei um pássaro negro, que pensei ser a Maria preta de bico azulado. Depois de estacionar em um recuo providencial e descer empunhando a câmera, me esgueirei por entre os ramos que avançavam sobre a margem do precipício. Apontei a lente e, surpresa: era a saudade! Cada um de nós fez a quantidade de fotos que julgou satisfatória e, só depois, peguei o tripé para o registro em vídeo, como de costume. Tarde demais. Sequer vi seu bater de asas. Não há do que reclamar. Clique!!!

Each of us made the amount of photos that he deemed satisfactory, and only then did I get the tripod for the video record as usual. Too late. I did not even see her flapping wings. There's nothing to complain about. Click!!!
