A meio caminho entre Cachoeiras de Macacú e Nova Friburgo há um ponto onde costumo parar para tentar a sorte. Não fosse o pesado tráfego de caminhões, o lugar seria perfeito para a observação de pássaros. Não havia aquelas tradicionais placas que indicam a proibição de entrada mas, mesmo assim, o máximo que ousei avançar foram cerca de duzentos metros ladeira abaixo. Posteriormente encontrei um grupo de ingleses e, na oportunidade, o guia me informou que o lugar era propriedade da CEDAE e que nunca lhe fora impedida a entrada. Desde então venho parando por lá a cada subida de serra. Sempre encontro alguma coisa interessante. Desta vez, este foi o único protagonista. Clique!!! 

Halfway between Waterfalls of Macacú and Nova Friburgo there is a point where I usually stop to try my luck. If it were not for the heavy truck traffic, the place would be perfect for bird watching. There were not those traditional signs that indicated the entry ban, but even so, the most I dared to advance was about two hundred meters downhill. Later I met a group of Englishmen and, at the time, the guide informed me that the place was owned by CEDAE and had never been prevented from entering. Since then I've been stopping by every hill climb. I always find something interesting. This time, this was the only protagonist. Click!!!

Os frutos desta árvores servem de atrativo para muitos pássaros. Em 23 de setembro um sabia laranjeira estava aí se alimentando e fiz o registro. Em 13 de outubro retornei ao local e encontrei esta outra espécie. Saber as coordenadas dessas fruteiras é um auxílio luxuoso àqueles que pretendem surpreender essas beldades com suas câmeras. The fruits of these trees are attractive for many birds. On September 23, a rufous-bellied Thrush was feeding there and I registered. On October 13 I returned to the scene and found this other species. Knowing the coordinates of these fruit trees is a luxurious aid to those who intend to surprise these beauties with their cameras. Não importa se estamos na bahia, quase ao nível do mar, ou em Nova Friburgo, a cerca de 1000 metros acima. Altitude e clima parece não ser problema para este pássaro. Clique!!!

Fotografei o sabiá e manobrei a pickup trezentos metros adiante, retornando ao mesmo ponto. De dentro da pickup pus o playback do verdinho coroado. Depois de fotografar a espécie na subida para o pico do caledônia nunca mais o avistei. Naquela oportunidade estavam misturados a um bando misto. Desta vez havia apenas este indivíduo. Ficou pousado por pouco tempo, mas foi o suficiente. Ainda espero encontrar este pássaro em condições ideais de luz. Acho que tenha uma beleza peculiar. Clique!!!

I photographed the sage and maneuvered the pickup three hundred yards ahead, returning to the same spot. From inside the pickup I put the playback of crowned whiting. After photographing the species on the ascent to the peak of Caledonia I never saw it again. At that time they were mixed with a mixed band. This time there was only this guy. It lay for a short time, but it was enough. I still hope to find this bird in ideal light conditions. I think it has a peculiar beauty. Click!!!
